| Been playing the game since release and it is intense. The campaign mode is stronger than last year's and THAT was a great FPS campaign, so imagine that. The game now brings a multiplayer mode called 'Horde' in which 5 COG battle against hordes of locusts for a maximum of 50 waves. Every 10 waves the games adds a multiplier to damage, accuracy and defense adding some difficulty as the waves pass. Again, this is one of the best campaigns I've played so far, the intensity of the gunfights, excellent graphics and the storyline is top notch.
Great great game so far, I'm sad it's release is so close to WotLK.

| So DH, as a former Gears player would you say it is worth it to spend the $60 to buy this game? | |

| It's definitely worth it, but I'd say give it a week or two until the solve the multiplayer issues they're having, unless you just wanna dig in the campaign mode in the meantime. | |

| I loved the campaign in the first one so that would be my main reason for getting it.
I'll see whether I should get that or the new Guitar Hero, cause I think both would bring me lots of enjoyment.

Then I'd definitely get it because the campaign is just fucking sick.

| I got Guitar Hero World Tour, it's pretty fun, easier than legends of rock. But it has like 65 songs on it so that is really cool.
I think that will occupy my gaming needs for now.

| I'm definitely planning on picking up GOW2. I loved playing through the first game, and will probably play through GOW1 again just for the sake of the experience and the gamer points. I've noticed that my xbox live gamerscore sucks because I used a console based profile for the first half-dozen or so games that I played. As a hyper-competitive personality type, I find this difficult to deal with. Were there achievements for the original xbox games too? | |

Nah, achievements were implemented with Xbox 360. Although, if you buy any Xbox classic games through XBLA, they each come with a set of achievements. Not the routine 1000 pts, but 200 pts. I agree with the competitive nature achievements bring. I love 360 > PS3 and achievements are a big factor there.

| What do you guys think of the new 360 menu layout?
Personally I don't really like it, the whole Avatar for every profile thing is a little weird, and I think the old version was simpler and easier to use.

Not really sure why I like it though, other than it being different. The Netflix addition is cool, but I have yet to use it for anything. The whole avatar thing is kind of annoying. They're direct rip-offs of Mii's, which I wasn't all that fond of in the first place. One thing I've noticed is that I can't figure out how to check my mailbox. I don't ever get any mail or have a friends list(tragic, I know), but if there were by some miracle a message in my mailbox, I'd be hopelessly unable to retrieve it.

| It took me two minutes to find out how to tell it to play a game.
That was probably why I started off disliking it.
There should be nothing that gets in between me and a video game.

| I like it so far. It gives a new more flashy look to the interface, which was already great IMO. The avatars are obviously a ripoff to Mii's but understandable because of competition. It takes a bit to find what you want, but once you do, you'll be able to find everything easily. | |
